Cool idea

Okay, I saw this today and thought it was a really cool idea. I'm wishing now that I had gotten the 50 states cricut cart when it was on sale for $9.99, so I could make this to document all our trips over the years. Heck I could even squeeze Hawaii into the frame!!! To update my last post........the basil plant is officially dead. I plan on picking up a plant at the nursery and trying one more time. The basil I did get off the plant before it's early departure was quite good!

Today I plan to finally get into my scrap room and do some serious cleaning. I have been picking over things for months, but the time has come to face the fact that some of the stuff I have "collected" will never get used. The "ah-ha" moment came when I read chapter 1 of The Happiness Project (it's our December book club selection, but the chapters are arranged by month and it's designed to read over a period of a year). The chapter talked about clutter......free clutter and sale clutter, and all sorts of other clutter. What I discovered was that I have lots of "sale" and "free" clutter in my life!!! So I'm rolling up my sleeves and starting phase one of my decluttering project. We shall see if I'm "happier" after I stir up all the dust~

What a day

To say this morning has been eventful would be an understatement! My kitchen faucet came disconnected and gave me a shower first thing this morning. Then when I tried to call my neighbor to come over & help me fix it, I discovered my phone line was dead! My neighbor was able to come over & help me reconnect my faucet & I have a service call in to repair the phone line.........but still, that's a lot of not so fun stuff to happen before 9am!!!!

Enough of the "Debbie-downer" stuff! Here is some stuff that is making me happy:
My brand new very soft & fuzzy, sparkly new house shoes! Love 'em and they are really keeping my feet toasty this morning. Aren't the pink sparkles too cute?
Okay.......this isn't exactly a happy plant. I tried to transplant some basil to grow in my kitchen. It's not good, today I pretty much scalped it & scrambled some eggs with fresh basil & tomatoes for breakfast. It kinda reminds me of the "love fern" from "How to lose a guy in 10 days," I guess I need to start with seeds. Oh well, at least I tried~
I have been trying to get back into knitting. I knitted a scarf earlier in the fall, but kinda fell off the wagon. Here's a hat I just need to finish the crown on , and I've already started the fingerless gloves to go with it! I really like the yarn & can't wait to finish this project so I can make some dish clothes and a chunky hat.

He did it!!!

Well that's one more milestone we've gotten through. Now the sticker shock of getting a car for him & the first insurance bill~

I'm here!

I'm back! I had high hopes of getting back into blogging quicker, but I got busy decluttering & organizing after the Holidays. For me, that meant making some huge messes and then reclaiming my house!! I also did a little shopping. I found the cutest framed embroidery squirrel at a resale shop. Do you see the little guy in the tree??? Simply love it & I've printed some patterns to make another one to hang in my bedroom. Here's some evidence of my organization........my William-Sonoma snowman dishes. Or as the kids say the ice cream bowls & hot chocolate mugs. I found the red star dessert plates in my china cabinet still in the box. I bought them years ago......and just hoarded them away. What a waste!!! They are now out of the box, being used, and I'm LOVING them!!!
Oh & we can't forget Maggie. Here she is doing her favorite thing.........barking at that damn cat that runs loose in the neighborhood and plotting her attack!!!! I HATE THAT CAT!!! I'll freely admit to letting Maggie exercise her "animal" instincts on a regular basis when that nuisance wanders into our yard.
Gotta run......Ron took the day off & wants to take me to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. We've already read the books & seen all three movies in subtitles, so this is more of a comparison to see if the Hollywood version holds a candle to the original movie.
