Happy Post

Ethan is a happy boy. I used my circut to make a "Go Packers" banner for the mantle, and bought some other goodies at Party City to complete the look. I think it turned out very cute:Last night we went to see Mellie perform in Oklahoma. She did a great job & we really enjoyed the play.
Today I had something pretty gross happen to me. I had stopped into Home Depot to pick up some weed & feed for the lawn. When I pulled into the parking lot, there was this very large (morbidly obese) black man loading lumber into a van. Needless to say.......I witnessed his pants falling down to his ankles!!!! He was wearing no underwear.......YUCK!!!! The worst part was that he didn't immediately pull his pants up, he finished loading his lumber & then hoisted them up. I think I'll be scarred for life........why do these things happen to me & if they are gonna happen then why can't it be Matthew Mcconaughey who's pants are falling down???

Angels

Just wanted to share a video of all the angels left for Andrea's family to find when they returned home from her funeral. All of the angels have personal notes from family & friends. What an incredible way to show how much she was loved~

saying goodbye

It was 1997 when I first remember meeting Andrea at Gloria Dei. She did my interview to assess my talents and get me going as a full fledged member at our new church. I was pregnant with Ethan at the time. She was so petite, and at the time had her dark hair cut in the cutest super short hairstyle. Over the years, we spent time weaving in & out of each other's lives. Her oldest Lauren, is the same age as Colin, and Zach was Ethan's age. We helped out at the kids' preschool, did bible studies together, and volunteered at church. After we moved to Pearland, we kept in touch via lunch dates at Pappasito's, chats after church on Sunday, and my chats with mutual friends almost always included news about Andrea.
She found the lump in her breast when Josh was just 11 months old. She made it through chemo, mastectomies, and went into remission for 7 years.........then "it" came back. She left us on Monday night, and is in heaven now. I know she is in heaven because I was always amazed at not only her faith in God, but her kindest towards everyone she met. My prayers go out to her family.

early morning cardmaking

I was up early today & made this card for my nephew. I used some CTMH stamps & overlays......it was a very quick little project. Now I need to run to the post office to mail it, so it arrives in time for his birthday!!

more cricut goodies!

I was shaking with excitement when I found a jukebox at Michael's on clearance for $9.99!!! I also picked up another cart that was also on sale. I still can't believe I got it for that price. The original price is $99....yep, it was a really good deal.I found some time yesterday to make a few cards. I have used all the cards I had stockpiled & my plan is to make lots of cards in the next few weeks. This one was lots of fun to make & I just love the chick stamp!!Maggie has officially confiscated the boys Christmas gifts. She absolutely LOVES to curl up in their microfleece blankets that they got for Christmas. Seriously, she is constantly making a nest in them to curl up in.......it's the cutest thing~

Out with the old........

Well there're still signs of Christmas around the house, but I'm hoping to finish getting everything put away later this afternoon. Here's a stash of stuff that I reuse........I just can't seem to throw out perfectly good boxes~Oh my sweet little bug! How I love you, and enjoyed playing with you the last few years. But I had to upgrade this Christmas, but don't worry I already found a new home for you. And you will be taken care of & loved...........you might freeze a few parts off in Michigan, but let's not think about that~
Here is my new toy~ Let's just call it my Christmas gift to myself. My green Expression........I've gotten her all hooked up & ready to go. Right after I finish this post, I'm gonna get busy making some cards!

Last night I heard a rumor via the internet that Michael's had some of their carts on sale for $9.99......I made an early morning run today & got very lucky!!! I was able to find these 2 carts on sale. I REALLY wanted the jukebox that they had on clearance for $10, but they were already sold out of them.I got lots of neat stuff for Christmas this year. Sometimes it's the little things that make me the happiest. An example of this is one of my favorite gifts this year.......
Mary Kay Satin Hands ROCKS!!! My hands have been so dry & cracked, but this stuff really softens them up. Maybe it will make my hands look younger too!! If you need any I know someone who sells MK & I'm sure she'd love to fill an order for you~
Finishing this post with a quick pic of a newly groomed Maggie. She is so happy to be able to see again!!! She's also quite proud of her new PINK collar~

Gotta run......... I hear my craft room calling my name~

Messy start to 2011

We started taking down the Christmas decorations yesterday. It's earlier than usual for us, but I couldn't take the mess of all the clutter one more day!! Now, I can't find the stuff I normally put on the mantle for decoration. I know that there's a tub somewhere that Ron "forgot" to bring down form the attic. I know this because, stuff wasn't packing up like it normally does......I'm OCD, so I know that a tub is missing!!! Ron will disagree and say I just accumulated more stuff this year, but I didn't........he forgot a tub~

That's what's going on around here........I hope to overhaul my blog this year. I want to make it more of a craft/cooking blog & less of the family stuff. I tend to do more family stuff on Facebook & it gets sort of repetitive posting the same things here. So, that's the goal for 2011 since I've had some folks request that I post my recipes & projects, and the boys would probably like less of a play-by-play of their lives on the WWW. We shall see if it happens~
