Around Town

Ron's parents arrived in town on Wednesday afternoon, and we have been all over town since they got here! We went to see the new exhibits at Discovery Green, and the art was really cool. The theme was global warming, and even though I don't agree with Al Gore, I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit!!
Me with the HEB exhibit.......I love all the fruit and the face-shaped planet! Today we went to Kemah for lunch after Church. A trip to Kemah is always a treat, but today the weather was incredible! It was a wonderful day to spend outside in the sun.
Grandma with the boys
The "lovebirds" posing for bayside photo.....
Tomorrow Grandma & Grandpa fly back to Ohio. Right now they are playing LIFE with the boys. I'm supposed to be the banker, but lets face it.........I hate being the banker!!! Plus, my life is busy enough, why should I play the game???

The cell phone & the leather chair crisis.....

I had to tell this story, because it was quite funny when it happened earlier tonight. Here it goes.........tonight as I was sitting down to eat dinner, I noticed Colin taking apart the leather chair in the den. I asked what he was up to, & he said his cell phone fell out of his pocket and was stuck in the chair. Well stuck it was..........somehow it made it's way to the very bottom of the chair. We knew this because you could see it illuminate as it received a call. We lifted and manuevered that chair in every possible angle trying to reach that phone!! We crammed our hands down every crease trying to retrieve it. Finally, the boys convinced me to take the chair apart.........did I mention that this particular chair had a $1200 pricetag when we purchased it??? And of course, Colin was going crazy everytime the thing vibrated and illuminated with an incoming text. It took about 30 minutes to take the bottom liner off the chair and find the phone!! Ron came home while me & the boys where holding the chair on it's side and shaking it........I'm sure it was a strange site!! I ended up using my staple gun to reattach the liner to the bottom of the chair. We now have a new rule in our house.......no cell phones in the leather chair!!

Photos, Photos, & More Photos.....

Here are the photos from my cousin Nicole's Wedding this weekend:

Lots of photos, I'll add some text later. Gotta run!

Random Wednesday

First of all, I have gotta figure out how to set the custom white balance on my camera. All of my indoors photos have a yellow cast to them.........I have adjusted for tungsten and fourescent lighting, but then everyone looks blue!! Oh well.....life goes on & I guess I can always edit them in photoshop. What have I been up to lately? Well I've found my scrapbooking groove! I finished scrapboooking the boys football photos from last fall, and thought this 2 page spread of Ethan's team turned out pretty good. Next on the list is organization, or my lack there of.......
I bought this cute printer's drawer at an antique shop about a year ago. I wanted to hang it on the wall, but it weighs a ton. So I thought, lean it against the wall and store rubber stamps in it. The only problem is that most of my stamps are too large for the slots, but I'm sure I'll find something to fill it up with.

So let's just peak at a weekend in the Legge house.............

Football, video games, & iPods rule around our house. The boys get all piled around in the family room with football games on TV, and their electronic toys of choice in their hands. Of course, Ron is the "remote master" that is his toy. He loves to flick back and forth between all the sports channels. I think it's to lure me out of the room, because all that flicking back & forth drives me nuts! (that explains all of my recent scrapbooking) Of course, Ron will say it's because he doesn't want the boys to watch the Viagra commercials to which I respond, "but the Victoria's Secret commercials are okay?" Gotta love those boys!!!

After a couple days without excercise, I decided to go for an afternoon run today. Not a good idea. Boy was it humid & hot. At one point it began to drizzle and I was in heaven! I really need to get back into my routine of walking & running. I have given up on having any steady walking buddies, plus I really enjoy meditating during my excursions.

We haven't gotten the results of Colin's MRI yet. I'm hoping to hear from the Orthopedist in the next day or so. Colin has a game this afternoon, but I'm gonna hang around the house and get some Fall decorations out of the attic. Then again, it's gonna be way too hot up there today!!! Gotta get, my cupcakes are ready & Ethan will be getting off the bus soon~

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is a special day.........today is my Dad's 68th birthday! It's hard to believe he's in his sixties, he just doesn't seem that old to me. I wanted to post a photo of him from sometime in the late 70's or it might have been the 80's. He was dressed up for Halloween and wearing vampire teeth.......I think he might have been wearing a dress, too!! He did silly stuff like that all the time. To this day, Ron & the boys don't believe me when I tell them that we (as in Me, Rose, & Rachel) used to give Dad pedicures. I tell you it's true, and he LOVED them......or at least that's what he'd tell us. Now I ask you, how many Dads out there let their daughters paint their toenails pink during deer season??? I can only imagine what the guys would say at the lease when he pulled his pink toenailed feet out of his boots at night!!!!

Happy Birthday, Dad.............I was thinking of giving you a pedicure!!! No pink polish, I promise~

Today's the day!

Today my poor old dishwasher is being replaced with a brand new one! I can't wait since I've been handwashing dishes for about 4 months. Other good news.......Pearland Jr High East defeated Friendswood Jr. High last night 23-8!!!!
The B team tied with them, but all in all it was a very good evening. I'm sure Colin was dying to be out on the field playing. Tomorrow we go to the Orthopedist to see how his knee is doing. Hopefully, we'll get some good news!
Nothing much else going on around here for the moment. Maybe I'll be able to do some scrapbooking later this afternoon, that'd be a real treat!! Gotta get~

Confessions: A Good Mom Gone Bad

It was bound to happen at some point in my years as a Mother. I have done the unthinkable, something completely unexcusable..........I've thrown out a toy and it has come back to haunt me!! Surely I can't be the only Mom to get caught in this trap?? Let me get it all out and then maybe I'll feel alittle better. You know this is all about my guilt!!!

I am the mother of boys, two of them. They collect boy toys. In general, those toys usually inflict damages to the house. The toy that was tossed into the trash by me, yes I admit it, was an old nerf football. For those of you that don't have boys, there is a shelf life on nerf footballs. As those balls age they crack, and then pieces of paint and foam shed from them everytime they are touched. And let's face it..... Boys of all ages LOVE to handle balls.......couldn't resist that!! Anyway, I was simply sick of vacuuming up pieces of football on a daily basis. When I found pieces in the bathroom, I drew a line in the sand and hide the football in the trash. I was happy when a few days passed and there was no mention of the missing nerf football. Then out of the blue, Ethan asked if I'd seen the red & blue football. I gave him the "deer in the headlights look" and said it must be around the house somewhere. So, he has been turning the house upside down looking for that football. I have tried to buy him a new football, but he wants that old crumbling ball. In all the years of my cleaning out the boys' toys, this is the first time that I've had them come back and ask for a toy. So, I'm hoping that the new PSP game & Packer football I bought Ethan last night will help fill the void left by the crappy old, falling apart football~

***Note to self**** make the boys clean out their own stuff or start vacuuming. Better yet, hide their toys/stuff in an effort to get them to clean the house~

Back in the brace again

Here he is, back in his brace again. Not a happy guy, but he's taking it all in stride. When we left the orthopedist's office, we were talking about life in general and Colin said, "Well I could be one of those people on I Shouldn't Be Alive that crashed their plane over Africa, or got lost in the Amazon for 30 days." I agreed that yep, it could be worse............so we'll just take it all one day at a time! Last night was Homecoming!! We got to the game in time to see the crowning of the Homecoming Queen. You know you're in a reccession when the Homecoming Queen rides "standing up" in the back of a Chevy pickup!!! I bet she was bummed when she saw that truck instead of the traditional convertible Corvette!!!
Colin was chosen to be the Chick-fil-A fan of the Week. He got to sit under a canopy near the end zone during the game, and was feed all the Chick-fil-A he could eat!! I wanted to get a photo of him with the Chick-fil-A cow, but she was with the cheerleaders most of the game. I mean the Chick-fil-A cow had a huge Homecoming corsage!! How unfair is that......this is coming from someone who NEVER went to Homecoming!
Val came home for the game. It was great seeing her. I texted Mellie, but she never came around for me to get a photo of her with her Homecoming corsage & date. So if she makes any comments about her not having a photo on here, I tried!
Okay......I have to add the story of "pickle juice" and "ass odor." Yes, this has to be added to the Homecoming post and you will soon know why. I love our seat for the football games. We have had them next to Rose for awhile now and everything was fine & dandy until this season when Mr. Ass Odor purchased the seats directly in front of us. So last night, Mr. Ass Odor was smelling quite "ripe," enough so that we had to chew some pretty strong gum to cut the smell(think Altoids here). I was doing okay, until I started smelling pickle juice along with the ass odor. Let's just say I was over come by the fumes.............this sent me & Rose into a fit of the giggles!! Then the guy shifted his weight in the stadium chair and a fresh wave of the ass odor hit me...............I'll let you use your imagination at this point. Needless to say, we plan to bring Vicks Vapor rub to put on our upper lips at the next game, and probably some Oust, or better yet........hang one of those green fir tree shaped car deodorizers on his stadium seat!!!!!! Seriously people..............how can he not know that he smells so bad?????

Off to some pretty stuff.........I am finally scrapbooking again. I did a few pages of Colin's football photos from 7th grade. Sorry the pages are kinda blurry and the color is off, but in person they are pretty cool! I'm loving craft paper with red & black.........and I'm obssessed with stars:-)This is a page in progress..........trying to decide what patterned paper to embellish with. I hope to have it finished later tonight. Then I can work on Ethan's football pages!
